This legendary power unit is now succeeded by an even more impressive V8, featuring excellent driveability and operating economy, combined with Euro 3 compliance. In line with Scania's modular philosophy, many components are shared with the latest six-cylinder engines to optimise parts availability and ease-of-service.

The new V8 is avaliable in two outputs: 480 hp and 580 hp. Most impressive is the way power is delivered, with a generous supply from 800 r/min and upwards. The new engines have been field tested by customers over 5,000,000 km since 1997. Thanks to modular design, the concept will be familiar to the whole of Scania's service organisation.
