  Environmental risk management

Scania’s risk management focuses on preventive actions so as to protect employees and the company’s over-riding values. Scania has a Group-wide procedure for integrating issues related to the risk of environmental damage with other risk management work. Every unit has an emergency plan for managing environmental disruptions.

Soil-condition assessment and ongoing clean-up
Soil contamination has attracted attention as an insurance-related issue and is being closely monitored. Orientations studies and risk assessments of soil and groundwater contamination have been completed at all production facilities.
In Meppel most groundwater pollution that has been detected has been cleaned up. The task is expected to continue for at least another year. In Falun 30 tonnes of soil were removed and decontaminated due to an emulsion leakage. Preventive measures were also undertaken. In Slupsk 200 tonnes of oil-polluted soil were removed and decontaminated; this task is continuing.
