Our Supplier Evaluation Model (SEM) is a work tool for us to evaluate new and existing suppliers according to our expectations and demand.
The SEM gives us a view of suppliers’ good and weak areas. The weak areas are specially targeted for improvement. The SEM is divided into the following five categories: - Logistics
- Quality and Environment
- Research and Development
- After Sales
- Company Profile
- In the category Logistics we evaluate Deliveries, Administration and Logistics Conditions.
- Quality and Environmental issues are evaluated in the second category. Criteria in this category are Quality and Environmental Standards, Environmental Awareness, Project Plan, Design Review and FMEA Requirements for suppliers, Quality Plan, Initial
Samples, Full Run Test and Capability Studies, Product Audit, Process Control Requirements, Defective Parts- Rejects at Scania and Defective Parts follow up system at the Supplier.
- In the category R&D we evaluate Project, CAD-Status, Test and Verification Methods, Verification, Prototypes & Mock-ups, Development Process and Market Service Support.
- Four criteria belong to the category After Sales: Deliveries, Period of Life Cycle, Pricing and Packing and Documentation.
- In the last category Company Profile we evaluate the financial situation Equity/assets ratio, Long-Term Price Development for Scania parts, Risk Management, Signed Scania Purchasing Contract, Response to Scania in the daily business and Warranty
Period.
