No matter if a quality deviation is discovered in production or at an end customer, the assignor to a POL case is always a Scania PRU. Handling POL cases usually means cross-functional contacts with Buyers, Quality Engineers, Logistic competence, After Market, and different PRUs.
Daily at 15.00 o’clock there is a POL meeting. At this meeting new cases are introduced, some open cases are followed-up, and some cases are closed. The focus of every POL case is to make sure those activities and time schedules are followed.
POL uses different tools for solving the cases depending on the specific case characteristics. Sometimes the assigned Quality Engineer from POL can help the supplier with knowledge, experience and time planning. Sometimes the key to success means informing the supplier of Scania’s demands. In some cases POL uses Supply Chain Development (SCD), an organisation from Scania Purchasing that helps the suppliers to develop and improve their performance. Another tool often used by POL is Supplier Performance Meeting (SPM), which is a complete examination of the suppliers total performance. Activities connected to SPM are Quality audit, Logistics audit and Production audit.
All escalated suppliers are monitored by POL and depending of deviation Quality engineers or logistic competence is used.
