Executive Board
 
   
 

The President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has overall responsibility for the Scania Group. The Executive Board has joint responsibility for strategic matters, such as corporate development, marketing and pricing, investments and financing. It decides the strategic direction of the Scania Group. Each Executive Board member has not only strategic responsibility for their specific area, but also to have a holistic view of the entire Scania Group.

The members of the Executive Board:

Leif Östling
Born 1945.
Joined Scania in 1972.
President and CEO.
Shares in Scania: 540,000 plus 160,000 via related companies.
MSc Engineering, MSc Economics and Business Administration.

Member of the following boards: Scania AB, AB SKF, ISS A/S, Svenskt Näringsliv (Confederation of Swedish Enterprise) and Teknikföretagen (The Association of Swedish Engineering Industries).

Leif Östling is a Master of Engineering and a Master of Economics. After graduating from Chalmers University of Technology he commenced his employment at Scania in 1972. Over the years he has held numerous positions within the company. After managing long-term planning at Corporate headquarters and thereafter Sales & Marketing at Scania Nederland B.V, he was appointed Managing Director of the Dutch company in 1983, a position he held until 1989. He was then appointed head of Scania, at that time a division within Saab-Scania. The year after he became Executive Vice President of Saab-Scania AB and as from 1994, when Scania AB became an independent corporation, Leif Östling is President and CEO of Scania AB.
Jan Ytterberg
Born 1961.
Joined Scania in 1987.

Executive Vice President,
Chief Financial Officer, CFO.
Shares in Scania: 10,512.

Bachelor of Science in Business administration and Economics.

Jan Ytterberg graduated from the University of Stockholm in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science in Business and economics. He joined Scania as trainee the same year and took his first management position in 1991. Shortly thereafter he became Head of group accounting and in 1996 he took the position as Marketing director at Scania Finance. After that he left Sweden in 1998 to become Director of Administration and Finance at Scania Hispania S.A. In 2002 he took the position as Finance Director of Scania Latin America and two years later he was back in Sweden and was appointed Senior Vice president Corporate Control. In 2006 Jan Ytterberg was appointed Group vice President and Chief Financial Officer.

Urban Erdtman
Born 1945
Joined Scania in 1989, employed until 2001. Rejoined in 2005
Executive Vice President,
Head of Sales and Services Management.
Shares in Scania: 12,853.
Urban Erdtman joined General Motors Nordiska AB in 1966 where he held various positions mainly within the commercial sector between 1966 and 1977. He was appointed Managing Director at Motorami AB in 1977, and became Sales Manager of Svenska Volkswagen in 1981. Urban Erdtman joined Scania in 1989 as Managing Director of Scania France S.A. and became Vice President of Trucks Europe Sales & Marketing in 1994. Three years later he was appointed Senior Vice President, Sales & Marketing Europe. Urban Erdtman left Scania in 2001 and became Managing Director of Svenska Volkswagen AB. He rejoined Scania in 2005 as Senior Advisor to the Executive Board, and was one year later appointed Head of Vehicles Sale & Logistics Support. Urban Erdtman was appointed Group Vice President, Head of Sales & Services in 2007.
Per Hallberg
Born 1952.
Joined Scania in 1977.
Executive Vice President,
Head of Production and Procurement.
Shares in Scania: 13,767.
MSc Industrial Engineering and Economics.

After obtaining his Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Economics, Per Hallberg joined Scania in 1977. At first working within the Industrial engineering area as Project Engineer, then changing into the field of Material planning. First as manager for Planning and Material control and then Material Manager at the Chassis Assembly. In 1985 Per Hallberg became Manager of Central Planning & Logistics and five years later he was appointed Technical Director for Scania Buses & Coaches. In 1997 he became Managing Director of Scania Nederland. Late 1999 he entered the position of Senior Vice President of Powertrain Production and Development. Per Hallberg was appointed Group Vice President and Head of Production and Procurement Scania AB in 2001.
Hasse Johansson
Born 1949.
Joined Scania in 2001.
Executive Vice President,
Head of Research and Development.
Shares in Scania: 15,976.
MSc Electrical Engineering.

Graduating from Chalmers University of Technololgy with a Master of Science and Electrical Engineering, Hasse Johansson joined Svenska Philips AB as a Service Engineer in 1974. A year later he became Engineering Manager at SEM AB. In 1982 Hasse Johansson founded Mecel AB (which became a part of Delphi Delco Electronics Systems 1990) in which he held the position as Managing Director until joining Scania in 2001. He was also Director of Advanced Engineering Europe from the year 1995, Business Director of Mobile Multimedia Europe from the year 1999 and Engineering Director of Delphi Delco Electronics Systems Europe from the year 2000. At Scania he was appointed Group Vice President Research and Development in 2001.

Born 1967.
Joined Scania in 1992.


Executive Vice President,
Head of Franchise and Factory sales.
Shares in Scania: 7,298.
MSc Industrial Engineering and Management.

After obtaining his Master of Science in Industrial Engineering and Management, Martin Lundstedt joined Scania in 1992 as a trainee. He commenced his career at Scania working within the Engine production as Production Engineer, and thereafter as Manager in the field of Engine production. In 2001 Martin Lundstedt became Managing Director of Scania Production Angers in France. He came back to Sweden in 2005 and became Head of Product Marketing, and was one year later appointed Senior Vice President and Head of Trucks. Martin Lundstedt was appointed Group Vice President and Head of Franchise & Factory Sales in 2007.
