Lambang Suroto is a plant coal hauler and department head for the Indonesian mining transport company PT Pamapersada Nusantara.  His Scania fleet is on the move 22 hours a day, on dusty and sometimes unpredictable roads. Many local people live near the hauling road, making safety of the utmost importance.

Moving high volumes of heavy material at the lowest possible cost – that’s the challenge everyday for Sutoro.  According to him the keys to good profitability are high productivity, availability and utilisation, as well as low operational cost, including repair and maintenance.

Tough operating conditions
These conditions put tough demands on trucks.

- What we demand from our truck fleet is high physical availability, high payload, low fuel consumption, good driving comfort and great performance on mining operations. Scania fulfills all of these expectation and more, says Suroto.

On-site service keeps the fleet going
Saturo also appreciates the role of the Scania Field Workshop, which facilitates on-site repairs and maintenance.

- We appreciate the way that Scania provides back-up units and proper job distribution, in addition to good availability of spare parts. In emergencies, the Scania service vehicle rapidly gets into action.
